Web Hosting Blog – Yaphank, N.Y. – KEMP Technologies today announced the availability of its new Virtual LoadMaster Exchange (VLM-Exchange) for Microsoft Hyper-V™. This product offering from KEMP was selected as a Microsoft Best of Tech Ed 2011 finalist by Penton Media’s Windows IT Pro, SQL Server Magazine, DevProConnections and SharePointPro, in the virtualization category. The new virtual appliance application delivery controller (ADC) is specifically designed for Microsoft Exchange 2010 running on Hyper-V machines, allowing businesses to easily establish high-availability and redundancy for Client Access Servers (CAS) and other critical Microsoft Exchange 2010 Server roles. The VLM-Exchange for MS Hyper-V ensures that a company’s investment in Microsoft Hyper-V based server virtualization is further leveraged by turning its virtual machines into fully-featured, production-capable ADCs.
The VLM-Exchange for MS Hyper-V is the software-based solution of the recently launched LoadMaster-Exchange for Microsoft Exchange 2010. As with the hardware version, it includes features such as SSL offload, caching, compression, content switching and Exchange Server affinity (persistence). Moreover, advanced Exchange application health checking and the ability to be deployed in a redundant, active/hot-standby configuration ensure high availability of Microsoft Exchange 2010. FindMyHost will begin experimenting with Microsoft’s new Virtualization technology Hyper-V. What makes Hyper-V on Windows so cool is that they have actually integrated it within the OS similar to how IIS is integrated. In addition, it is a 64-bit environment and I’m hoping all of our apps move over seamlessly.
We already virtualize quite a bit of stuff, but this will be a move toward total virtualization. This will result in an easier to manage system as well as lower costs all around.
It should be a great deal of fun and a good learning experience. The company also purchased a super fast beast of a machine to run the new environments on. If all goes well, I hope we can convert to the new virtualization setup within a month.
We are one of the first people to get our hands on Hyper-V thanks to the people at SoftLayer. They were one of the first Web Hosts to launch Hyper-V. Be sure to jump over and check out their Hyper-V product line at SoftLayer. I haven’t even logged in yet, but I am hoping SoftLayer’s always reliable tech support is ready for me. LOL.
