London, UK – OnApp, a certified technology partner in Dell’s Technology Partner Program since 2012, has today launched a new range of instant cloud appliances for service providers through collaboration with Dell OEM Solutions.

By certifying and optimizing OnApp cloud management software on Dell PowerEdge servers and Dell Networking switches, OnApp can now deliver a combined solution that can be rapidly adopted by service providers and system integrators looking to grow their cloud offering.

More than 3,500 hosts, telcos and MSPs across 93 countries already use OnApp’s cloud management software, but this new solution will significantly speed up the integration process: customers can now purchase the OnApp cloud management platform, fully certified and factory-installed on Dell platforms, and delivered direct to their datacenter. With fully racked and cabled options also available, service providers can add power and a network connection, activate their OnApp control panel, and they’re ready to start offering cloud services.

There are two standard Dell and OnApp configurations available for clouds with three and eight compute nodes, with a number of CPU, RAM and disk options available. Each package includes 24×7 support for OnApp software and Dell hardware, via a single support contact from OnApp.

The OnApp cloud appliances are based on the latest Dell PowerEdge R630 and R730 servers, Dell S4048-ON switches, and a full install of the OnApp cloud platform. Each appliance features OnApp Storage, OnApp’s high-performance integrated storage system. OnApp Storage pools SSD, SATA and SAS disks in the compute nodes provided with each cloud appliance, optimizes that storage for cloud workloads, and provides fully decentralized control of performance and resilience, so service providers can create tiers of storage suited for different workloads.

“This is fantastic news for service providers,” said OnApp CEO, Ditlev Bredahl. “Through collaboration with the Dell OEM and Solution Centres teams, we’ve made it easier than ever to launch new cloud services on OnApp, taking away the complexity of configuring the right hardware for your cloud and providing everything you need, with one price and one place to go for support. Certification also provides an added level of assurance for cloud providers with enterprise customers – whether they’re building cloud services for the first time, or adding capacity in new regions.”

“We chose to partner with Dell not only because of their global technology expertise and broad ecosystem, but also due to their entrepreneurial spirit to drive innovation, and our shared commitment to service providers. Our engineering teams collaborated on this project over six months to fine tune OnApp for the optimal performance on Dell servers and switches used in each appliance – right down to the level of firmware.”

Dermot O’Connell, general manager and executive director, OEM Solutions, Dell EMEA said: “Dell is committed to being the technology and business partner of choice to both innovative software companies like OnApp and also to Service Providers building Cloud Services. The OnApp Instant Cloud appliances, powered by Dell OEM Solutions, is a great example of how we deliver on both those commitments. Service Providers can leverage this solution to accelerate their time to market and deliver a variety of public or private cloud services. The solution is pre integrated and validated for easy deployment so Service Providers can focus their resources on differentiating their Cloud business and delivering predictable and reliable services to their customers.”
