I noticed the difficulty people had in installing and maintaining their websites if they don’t have a technical background, which many people don’t have. The idea came from this very observation. I started writing the code for Softaculous in January 2009. The first version was launched in April 2009. BTW, the name Softaculous is a combination of Software + Spectaculous

What control panels is Softaculous available for?

cPanel was the first panel we integrated into, Then DirectAdmin and Plesk were integrated.

At present we support cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk, H-Sphere and Interworx. But we also have a Custom Panel integration solution.

What are some of the most popular scripts that can be installed using Softaculous?

Does Softaculous handle the updates? I know WordPress seems to have an update every other day and it is hard to keep up with.

Yes, Softaculous does have the capability to update installations. As soon as an Update becomes available, our team will push the updates to all the servers.

The users then have the option to Upgrade by a click.

Do you provide support for end users of Softaculous?

Yes, if a user faces any difficulty with the installation or upgrade, they can email our support team and we will be happy to assist you.

We also have a Desktop version of Softaculous called AMPPS which is now a POPULAR WAMP (windows) and MAMP (Mac) stack. Its free and is used by Developers for developing Websites as it has 259 apps to install by the click of a button. AMPPS has the most updated versions Apache, PHP, MySQL for the desktops.
