Minkels shows ultimate modularity during Data Center World, 11-12 March 2015 ExCel London, stand D65
Veghel, Netherlands – Data growth and cloud have increased the dynamics in the data centre environment, which demands flexibility and resilience from the infrastructure. Minkels’ answer: Ultimate modular solutions! During the show the modular character of the Minkels data centre portfolio is perfectly presented by the Minkels Free Standing Cold Corridor® and VariconPower® busbar system. Both excellent examples of Minkels’ capability to provide ultimate modular solutions.
The Minkels Free Standing Cold Corridor® is a fully self-supporting aisle containment design. Unlike the norm for the data centre market, it allows isolated corridors to be created without data centre racks. The new solution, an innovation by Minkels’ Product Development department, is an ultra-modular and therefore flexible concept for keeping hot and cold airflows separate. The method is energetically extremely efficient. From the moment it is implemented, the Free Standing Cold Corridor offers the same level of energy efficiency as a standard Cold Corridor design with data centre racks.
Using the modular VariconPower busbar system with smart tap-off boxes offers data centres a power distribution solution for currents varying from 160 amps to 1000 amps. It offers speed, simplicity and flexibility during installation, operation and expansion. At Data Centre World Minkels shows the newly developed busbar solution specifically designed for 600mm and 800mm wide racks. Since the tap-off boxes are centered on top of the rack, this ensures a more organized installation, reducing the risk of human error during daily operation.
The modularity of the Free Standing Cold Corridor as well as the VariconPower busbar solution fit perfectly in the ‘pay-as you-grow’ philosophy allowing spread of investment and a future proof design. Both solutions are typically used for both corporate and commercial data centres.
During Data Centre World, Minkels presents its solutions in collaboration with parent company Legrand, known for its variety of electrical systems, including UPS products, cable management solutions, power distribution products, as well as fireproof wall bushings. Legrand has an extensive portfolio of – mostly building-related – products that could be interesting for Minkels customers. The products and services of Minkels and Legrand together form a fully comprehensive, total solution for data centre infrastructure.
